If there is one thing that Spain is known for is its sun, its beaches and its warm blood. Now that the good weather is coming and you will be preparing your vacations, we have prepared a definitive list of the gay beaches in the country. If you are also more from sea than mountain, read this article. What’s more, print it and take it with you.
As you may be thinking, the Spanish LGTBIfriendly beaches are located in the most open and inclusive cities in the country. In some of them the practice of nudism is permed, in some it is totally obligatory (but come on, we encourage you to do it).
Catalonia’s gay friendly beaches
La Mar Bella – Barcelona
Undoubtedly, the beach par excellence of the Ciudad Condal is the beach of Mar Bella. Located in the district of Sant Martí, the gay beach has a length of more than 500 meters with different areas where you can find a nudism zone. On the beach of Mar Bella is the BeGay beach bar, known for its festivities and its busy action during the summer. In only 20 minutes from the city center you can reach the beach of Mar Bella by metro (L4-Poblenou) or by bus (H16 – Calvell walk – Rambla del Poblenou).

Bassa Rodona – Sitges
40 minutes from Barcelona, is the city of Sitges, a small, quiet and well known locality for tourism (and locals) for being one of the gay epicentres of the country. The Bassa Rodona Beach is without a doubt the best known gay beach in Sitges. Fine sand, warm water and many chulazos. What else do you want?
La Playa del Hombre Muerto – Sitges
Located to the south of the city, Playa del Hombre Muerto is a naturist or nudist gay beach, characterized by calm and shallow waters. The access is a little complicated but it is definitely worth visiting this corner of Sitges.

Canary Islands’ gay friendly beaches
La Playa del Inglés – Maspalomas
We could not forget the Playa del Inglés, located in the dunes of Maspalomas. With more than 2 kilometers in length on this beach you can find everything from nudist areas to cruising areas. The meeting point of this beach is located in the famous “Chiringuito number 7”.
Las Dunas de Corralejo – Fuerteventura
At kilometer 22 of the Dunes of Corralejo is undoubtedly the gay meeting point of this area of Fuerteventura. The dunes also have a nudist area and a cruising area.
Valencia’s gay friendly beaches
La Playa del Pinedo
Without a doubt this is the most gay friendly beach in the Valencian Community. It also has a nudist area (located next to the abandoned factory) and a cruising area. Playa del Pinedo is located on the Saler road.
La Cala del Racó del Conill
If you are one of those who like to take fire to your Instagram account, this cove is one of the most instagrameable in Benidorm, in the area of Villajoyosa. Between rocks and cliffs you will find this quiet beach ideal for relaxing.
Balear Islands’ gay friendly beaches
Es Cavallet – Ibiza
On this wonderful island, gay beaches could not miss. Without a doubt, the best known is Es Cavallet. Just 15 minutes from downtown, this beach has everything from crystal clear waters to the Chiringay, the well-known beach bar of the Gay collective in Ibiza.
Playa de Figueretas – Ibiza
Located on the same island, in the first bay of Figueretas beach is the area most frequented by the gay community. A part of its crystal clear waters, this beach has a gay friendly bar Chaos.
